The aim of this group is to develop new tools, methods and algorithms for 3D shape modeling and analysis, video interpretation and color image analysis. This is needed in many applications such as biometrics, video surveillance,human computer interfaces, human activities recognition, multimedia retrieval and cultural heritage. Indeed, images, video and 3D objects have become one of the most common sources of information in today's society. Our approach is to develop representations for images, videos and 3D objects, by studying their shape, texture, appearance and motions by using the most advanced research on pattern recognition, computer vision, machine learning and geometry.
The Image group is active in regional projects such as the Equipment of Excellence programs and competitiveness clusters.
