With its 34 research teams, grouped into 9 Thematic Groups (GT), the unit brings together various complementary skills to address major societal issues, some of them being identified as priority cross-cutting themes. Among these themes, we can cite, for example, artificial intelligence in its different facets; cybersecurity; digital health yet robotics.

Today, CRIStAL has 490 members, half of whom are permanent (about 155 Teacher-Researchers; 50 CNRS and Inria researchers; 35 research support staff). The other half is partly made up of the 150 doctoral students that the unit trains.
