Lingxiao Xun, DEFROST team, received the 1st prize for his thesis from the GdR Robotics 2024 on Wednesday 1 October in Rennes.
Lingxiao Xun’s research focuses on the modelling and control of soft robots, with a particular emphasis on their medical applications. His thesis, devoted to the modelling and control of an active cochlear implant, aims to improve the success rate of implantation. He developed a comprehensive mechanical model coupling implant deformation and contact forces, as well as a multiphysical model of a conductive polymer actuator. This work led to the proposal of a control strategy that optimises the insertion trajectory to achieve maximum depth while minimising stress on the tissue.
